Sometimes in life we come to realize we are trying to stop the waves. We fight the waves of life as they come crashing toward our shoreline. Desperately stuck in our attachment to the way we want life to go, we rage, run, or hide in reaction to our life circumstances, and we suffer deeply. When we stop and listen rather than forcing and pushing ahead, we awaken from our automated ways of responding to life. There is a pause, a breath, a settling, and loosening of constriction. A more natural, relaxed, and flexible state emerges. It is here our pores are open and we begin to understand what life may be inviting us to consider.

When we move with life in a receptive state, looking and listening deeply, we notice how our actions impact others and our environment. The more this state becomes our way of being in the world, the more accurate we are in estimating how to meet our needs and respond in rhythm with our life situation. We become aware of how to ride the waves of our life.

When we receive and respond rather than force and react, we more deeply attune to the feelings, needs, and values of others. The more we see others, the more we are seen. I've been deepening my art as a therapist since 1999. I help those with post traumatic stress, anxiety, and life altering medical conditions to emotionally heal and rediscover meaning.
